Angela has a wide variety of teaching experience, ranging from the elementary-aged to the retired adult, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Students and their parents continually attest to her patience, skill, and enthusiasm as an educator. Her teaching experience includes remote, in-person, and hybrid-style teaching.

In addition to her piano performance studies, she received specialized training in the art of piano teaching during her Masters and Bachelor degree studies, with emphasis in both performance and piano pedagogy. Pedagogy training included studying many teaching methods, repertoire, philosophies, and technical skills. Her teaching experience includes private lessons within the home, private lessons in established music schools, group classes for children and adults, and university-level piano curriculum.

Read about her teaching philosophy here:

"Everyone is capable of making music at the piano! From the very first lesson, students can play with musicality, creativity and enjoyment. The study of piano means not only developing technical skill for the piano, but also developing creative thinking, self-discipline, and concentration skills that apply to all areas of life."

Her students have participated in and received high honors in The Carnegie Hall Achievement Program, The Music Development Program, and The Royal Schools of Music exams. Students have also participated in the New York State School Music Association festival, and the New Jersey Music Teachers Association festival. Her students perform in biweekly repertoire classes, yearly recitals, holiday concerts, and in-home recitals.

What Students Are Saying

"Angela has been teaching my son for two years now.She has done a great job of teaching him how to read notes and play the piano. He appreciates her teaching style and always looks forward to his next lesson with her!"

"It was a pleasure studying with Angela for the past year.  I am an adult piano student that has no prior music background of any kind.  Angela fulfilled my lifelong dream to play the piano.  I recalled my intimidation reading music during our first lesson.  Now I am actively looking for new materials to study and play.  I often play duets with my son and the bonding we developed at the piano is priceless!

Angela is a gifted teacher.  Her knowledge and experience are obvious from the start.  Angela brings enthusiasm to every lesson.  I believe it is this unwavering enthusiasm that kept me motivated every week.  As a father of two young kids and working a full time job, I have precious little free time to myself.  And yet, I dedicate most of my free time to piano practice as I always look forward to the next lesson.

As an adult, Angela gave me more latitude to decide the pieces and kinds of music I am interested in learning.  She has an active interest in my feedback and constantly strives to incorporate them into her lessons.

I wholeheartedly recommend Angela to anyone who is serious about playing the piano!"

Lesson Policies

Thanks for choosing me as your piano teacher! To ensure the most effective learning experience for your child, here are my policies and expectations.

Tuition

Tuition is paid monthly in advance and is due at the first lesson of each month. An invoice will be emailed to you prior to the first lesson of each month. Cash, Venmo, and Zelle are accepted.  Tuition will be pro-rated for missed lessons only in the case of one month’s notice. Contact Angela at angela.leising@gmail.com for current tuition rates.

Missed Lessons

If a student misses a lesson, he or she will simply miss the benefit of that lesson, except in the case of student illness and planned absences with one month’s notice. Lessons missed due to illness will be rescheduled at the discretion and availability of the teacher, but cannot be guaranteed.  Lessons canceled by the teacher will be rescheduled at a mutually agreeable time.

Communication

Please feel free to email me at angela.leising@gmail.com with any questions. I love hearing from you!

Student Commitment and Parental Involvement

Students will make the most progress, and therefore enjoy music making the most, if each week has a lesson with your teacher and a minimum of five practice days. Set a daily time to practice (or two shorter times daily) and make it part of your family’s routine.  Help your child by limiting distractions such as TV and devices at this time.  Specific practice suggestions will be given based on your child’s age and level. A parent must be in the home for the duration of the child’s lesson.

Withdrawal

In the event that you wish to discontinue lessons, one month’s notice is requested.

Materials

You will receive links via email for books or other materials to purchase.  On average, students will need around $75 of materials per year.

It’s a privilege to share in the joy of making music with you!

Sincerely,

Angela
